Andreas Schou (b. 1986) has had a fantastic career from his pony years to his senior years. Andreas represented Denmark at the European Championships in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017 and at the WEG (World Championships) in 2014. One of his best results was ridden home in 2015 in Aachen, where he and Der Kleine finished in an individual 9th place.

Andreas is a nine-time Danish Champion and has great results in many of the big tournaments. Andreas is married to Jannike West Schou, and together they have two children William and Celine.

Tokyo Olympics

Andreas Schou represented Denmark in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics with the horse Darc De Lux. It was the first time that Andreas would ride an Olympic Games, and before leaving he told Zibrasport Equest that he was happy about the selection and:

“You only meet these heights at championships, but I’m sure Darc de Lux can do it. We have just ridden 1.60m high obstacles in Saint Tropez. He’s a fantastically careful horse. So I believe in it – I definitely think we have a chance. It’s the best horse I’ve ever had.”

World Championships in Herning 2022

Andreas Schou has worked hard to get to the World Championships in Herning, and it has paid off. He was selected to represent Denmark and is the only Danish rider to have qualified three horses for the World Championships. That is Darc de Lux, which he rode last year at both the Tokyo Olympics and the European Championships in Germany – and on whom he won a silver medal at the DM in 2020. Then there’s Independent, on whom he won silver at the World Championships this year and who has achieved fantastic results recently, and Diacardo. All three are 11 years old.

The choice fell on Darc de Lux, and together the now experienced pair rode to several good rounds on the difficult championship courses. Andreas was the best-placed Danish show jumper at the World Championships with his individual ranking of No. 32. Overall, the Danish national show jumping team finished 14th out of 22 teams.

Absolute Horses

Together with his brother, Christian Schou, Andreas Schou runs the exclusive sales and training stable Absolute Horses in Sommersted, Southern Jutland.

Horses are a family interest, and Andreas and Christian have several employees in the company, whose purpose is to unite breeding and sport. Right now, the talented riders have several promising horses at the top of international sport, and Andreas makes no secret of the fact that his goal is to get to the top.

Danish Show Jumping Championships

For more than ten years Absolute Horses has organized the Danish Championships in Equestrian Show Jumping, which is one of Denmark’s biggest equestrian events. It features jumping at the absolute top level and the Danish Championships in Equestrian Show Jumping for Senior, U25 YoungRider & Junior.

It has become a big event and the beautiful surroundings in Sommersted attract riders from all over Denmark. Of course, it takes talent and good cooperation to set up such an event, but the Schou brothers have managed to do so. 2022 will be the final year for this event at Absolute Horses.
