Lars Bak Andersen – profile

Danish Lars Bak Andersen (b. 1979) is a trained rider and a very successful Danish show jumper.

Grew up with horses

Lars Bak Andersen grew up in Frederikshavn, North Jutland, where he has had horses since childhood. Lars’ parents are both well-known names in the horse world. His father, Bo Bak Andersen, is a renowned trainer and international course designer. His mother, Vibeke “Vibsen” Degn Andersen, is also a renowned trainer and used to ride professionally herself.

The Danish rider currently lives in Elmshorn, Germany where he runs his successful training and competition stable together with his wife and their two children. Lars has been a professional rider since he was just 20 years old and has previously worked for Stutteri Ask as well as the German Holsteiner Verband.

Danish Champion 2013

Behind Lars Bak Andersen lies a long result list, with very impressive results. Among them is also the title of Danish Champion. He secured this title back in 2013 on the Casall-son Charly.

Several times test rider in Herning

With his many years of experience from the Holsteiner Verband, Lars has been a popular choice as a test rider at the young horse championships. The experienced rider has taken on the exciting role as test rider of the young showjumpers in Herning no less than five times. Both the audience and the riders enjoyed Lars’ good presentation and his great experience and understanding of the training of the young horses.

World Championships Herning 2022

Lars Bak Andersen was one of the showjumpers selected to represent Denmark at the World Championships in Herning in August. Here he competed with the 10-year-old Carl-Heinz B (by Chacco-Blue/Quality).

Together with the Danish national jumping team, the pair finished in 14th place in the overall team ranking, where a total of 22 teams competed.
